Audio Mirror Privacy
Last updated 2026-05-24.
Audio Mirror does not collect, transmit, store, or share any user data.
What the app does
Audio Mirror captures the audio your Mac is playing and sends it over your local Wi-Fi network
to your iPhone (or vice versa). It also discovers other Audio Mirror devices on the same network
via Bonjour (mDNS).
What stays on your devices
- All captured audio is encrypted with DTLS using a pre-shared key and sent only to the
specific iPhone or Mac you connect to.
- No audio is sent to any server we operate.
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reports, or usage data are collected.
- No third-party SDKs are included in the app.
Permissions
- Screen Recording (macOS) — required by Apple's
ScreenCaptureKit framework, which is the only documented way for a third-party app to
capture system audio on macOS. Audio Mirror only reads the audio samples from
ScreenCaptureKit; it does not record, transmit, or display any screen image.
- Local Network (iOS) — required to discover and connect to other
Audio Mirror devices on the same Wi-Fi.
Children
Audio Mirror is rated 4+. It does not collect data from anyone, including children.
